Best rain jacket ever (2010-03-29)
This jacket is perfect for those days where it's raining to hard to carry an umbrella. No lining inside though to keep you warm. Goes well with a pair of hunter rain boots.. no need to carry an umbrella.
excellent jacket (2010-03-04)
excellent jacket for my Daugther. We lived in a very rainy city and it works perfect.

About PreCip Technology
PreCip is Marmot's "next step" technology. It allows the company to construct the lightest, most compressible, technical, waterproof, and breathable rainwear in the world. Ventilated and breathable to keep you dry from the inside, PreCip rainwear has plenty of pockets and custom fit features to keep you warm, dry, and comfortable. The key to PreCip is its barrier technology, a microporous polyurethane that is impregnated with silicon dioxide particles. These particles create small, numerous, consistent holes that allow small water vapor molecules to pass through the barrier but not the bigger liquid ones. This keeps the rain out while letting your sweat vapor work its way outside, away from your body, to keep you dry from the inside as well as from the outside. PreCip rainwear is compressible enough to stuff into a water bottle, and comes in enough colors and styles to travel with you anywhere--to the mountains, the city, or overseas.
About Marmot
In April 1971, University of California Santa Cruz students Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley were visiting the Juneau Icefields in Alaska as part of a school project in glaciology. It was among their fellow students that Reynolds and Huntley came up with the idea of a Marmot club. To become a Marmot, you had to climb a glaciated peak with another Marmot. To help fellow club members deal with the cold, the pair began to make prototypes of down products in their Santa Cruz dorm rooms, starting with a down vest, a sweater, and a parka, and later branched into sleeping bags. The warmest bag was the PIKA (now known as the Cwm), which was rated at -45 degrees F. In 1974, the pair joined up with Tom Boyce in Grand Junction, Colorado, and opened a rental and retail shop under the name of Marmot Mountain Works.
Through the years, Marmot has passed many memorable milestones. The company debuted its Golden Mantle puffy jacket in the mid-'70s for a Clint Eastwood film called The Eiger Sanction. In 1976, Marmot helped introduce Gore-Tex to the public after testing a number of prototype sleeping bags in frozen meat lockers and under fire sprinklers (with the company founders snugly inside). Now headquartered in Santa Rosa, California, Marmot has offices in California, Colorado, Canada, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Germany. Its products are distributed in 27 countries.
Great jacket! (2010-02-23)
I bought this jacket because I lost one exactly like it and needed a replacement. This is a fantastic rain jacket. It's not very long so expect your legs to get wet in a hard rain (unless you buy the PreCip pants) but it'll keep you dry in most regular circumstances. I'm 6'3" and 250 and this jacket fits me fine. I can even wear a vest or fleece under it if I want to take it skiing. The pockets are convenient and the whole thing can be stuffed into a very small pocket in a backpack or something. I love this jacket.
son very happy (2009-11-23)
I bought this for my son who had a Marmot jacket like it for many, many, years. He is very happy to have the replacement.
Excellent Rain Jacket (2009-11-15)
The Marmot Precip is a great rain jacket. Have worn it in a couple decent rains for hours and it has kept me bone dry as well as my goretex coat. The jacket is very light and at times, I do not even know I have it on. Not sure how it would hold up under the strain of a pack and heavy duty hiking, but I bought it more as a casual rain coat. So far I am extremely pleased with the Precip. The price was also too hard to pass up!
Amazing travel jacket (2009-09-13)
I took this jacket to New Zealand in the middle of winter. It rained every day, but I stayed dry and the jacket packs up into nothing. It's crazy. It looks good, too.
love it (2010-02-18)
Great quality, very lightweight but rip-stop material is really sturdy. Got it in the orange color and it is very flattering on my little boy.
Great raincoat! (2010-02-13)
I bought this raincoat for my son and we are very happy with it. It is very light and folds up into nothing at all, but it is very effective at keeping him dry.
One note...I had to go to another website to get proper sizing, because Amazon's sizing charts are very generic, they give height and weight only. Marmot actually has a sizing chart that includes chest, arm length, and waist. Buying children's clothes online can be challenging, and it would be helpful if Amazon could provide more thorough sizing charts. Amazon is nevertheless my favorite place to shop...for nearly everything!
Very pleased and dry! (2009-10-09)
I'm a college student who must walk across campus on a daily basis to get to my classes. It seems like at the beginning of each year there is one particularly bad rain shower that drenches the students from head to toe. Last year after this semester's welcome back shower, I finally got around to buying some rain boots. This year (though my feet were wonderfully dry) I decided it was time to invest in a rain jacket.
After some searching around and plenty of review reading, I decided this one was the one for me. I wanted something that would not only function but also hold up for a long time (which is why I went ahead and got the slightly more expensive jacket). I only got it recently though, so I haven't been able to test its wear and tear.
As far as function goes, it kept me very dry today on its first real trial run. The velcro issues mentioned in other reviews have not been an issue for me. The only thing I've noticed that is slightly bothersome is that it seems like the hood is a little too shallow. If I'm wearing a ponytail in my hair, the hood doesn't shield my face from the rain very well and constantly feels like it's falling off the back of my head, but my roommate who has a different brand of rain jacket was having the same problem, so it's not marmot unique.
Other than that, it fits perfectly (I followed marmot's sizing chart), and I am very happy. I actually look forward to rainy days now!
Raincoat (2009-05-15)
Very fast shipping. Extact item I wanted. Saw it in an REI store first before finding it online in my size.
Kate (2009-05-12)
I did quite a bit of "research" before deciding on this rain jacket, and I'm pleased with it. I wanted the pit zips, brim on the hood, and the brown color. It is light weight, a flattering shape and true to size. One other reviewer didn't like the Velcro down the front flap, on cuffs, and on pockets, but I actually like it......makes me feel all sealed up in wind or rain!
PreCip size runs small (2009-05-11)
The features of this jacket were as described by the various sellers. I found that the size wasn't quite right...smaller than other rainwear and jackets I own.
Great fit and style (2009-01-18)
This was given as a gift to my daughter. She loved everything about it, which is saying a lot as she is very particular about fit and style. It looks good and feels good on but there hasn't been any rain to give it a real test. There are times when her job requires that she be in the rain and this seems to be the right jacket for them.
